Knights ' Club STUDEDT LEfiDERS SCHOOL BOARD m SESSion FACULTY niEETinG School Board in Session • Taking advantage of the federal building appropriation, the Inglewood Union High School Board of Trustees made arrangements for bonds and thus made possible Leuzinger ' s new gymnasium. With the nev gymnasium, athletic events and physical education classes will be greatly facilitated, giving Leuzinger an advantage over the majority of the schools of the marine League. Faculty fUeeting • Under the chairmanship of Harold O. Simar, the two facul- ties of Leuzinger and Inglewood, during the second semester, have commenced work on a new curriculum. The proposed curriculum will make Leuzinger one of the most advanced schools of Southern California in modern education. The above photograph shows a meeting of the Leuzinger faculty. Yocum Despite the handicap of small numbers, the 12B class has entered the senior year eager for participation in a host of activities. This semester has been one of ihe most active in class history. Starting early to select senior sweaters, the 12B ' s, under the leadership of Ernest Hahn, president, were the first to achieve the distinction of having the school colors — blue and white — for their class colors. During the previous semester, the senior B ' s played an important part in the winning of the Boys ' League Interclass Sports Trophy. In this class can be found football, basketball, track, baseball, and tennis stars. Leading the varsity five were the two high scorers and co-captains, Paul Wierk and James Jewell, with the former receiving the Thompson award. Coach Thompson brought Leuzinger its second consecutive B title by turning last year ' s C squad into a fast-moving quintet that scored enough league victories to win the cham- pionship. The two Olympian fives made the best showing in the first league encounter against Torrance, when they combined team-work and floor-play to trounce the Tartars 19 to 4 and 15 to 8, respectively. Coach Smith ' s co-champion nine also did well in the Pomona baseball tournament with two victories and a close defeat to San Diego in the quarter finals. Wesley Heidt, ace pitcher, catcher and slugger, was selected in the outfield of the mythical all-tournament team. Captain James Jewell was awarded the G. ITl. Green baseball trophy. Enthusiasm ran very high, and practices were held twice a week in preparation for the Play Day games.
