y THE BEGI N . . .
"Tennis anyone," asks the CHAMP, Mr.
Peyton.
ln the beginning is where it all started. In almost every
picture you find smiles of students and teachers. Smiles
that reflect upon Raney's school life. Smiles that express
friendship and give a certain warmth throughout the Mrs. Wilson is in the library before and
school year. We at Raney feel our school has served its after school everyday to meet the needs of
purpose in teaching and molding us into what we are students.
and will be. We were ably led by Mr. Troxel, Mr. Van
Matre, Mr. Best and the faculty. Our School Board and
Supt. of Schools, Dr. Charles Terrell provide us with a
curriculum and facilities for a top school. We appreciate
our parents who made all this possible. Our spirit is
good. Thanks to you. '
Raney's Library is one of the best for any
jr. High School in Southern California.
Carlos Reynoso, 'Mike Garcia and
friends, take a break during lunch.
Miss Geiger and Mrs. Hetherington "try out" Raney's new .
trampoline with which the money was raised by G. R. A. selling
candy and the cheerleaders donating money that they had earned

FU DE TERTAI ME T
As in the past, Raney's clubs
have captured student interest.
The various organizations give
students a break from the
studying and testing and give
them a chance to have some
fun and entertainment. These
various clubs are sponsored
by a teacher who volunteers
services so the students can
have an opportunity to part-
icipate in school functions.
For instance, Raney Girls
Service Club help with dif-
ferent service jobs such as,
serving at P. T. A. meetings
and at other activities where
help is needed. The Spanish
Club, on the other hand, pro-
vides a different type of inter-
est to the students. They do
different things taking field
trips and learning more of the
Spanish culture. By this, the
student develops academically
and mentally. The Drama
Club is also a service. They
entertain the students with
different skits and plays while
they learn the different tech-
niques of drama.
AIDES HELP STUDENTS, TEACHERS
AIDES are for everyone. They not only help teachers, but make classes fun by helping out the students. Whether
it is learning the corecct way to play tennis, or distinguishing a proton from a neutron they help. Library aides
sometimes give up their snack and free time before and after school, just to serve you. The Lab Aides are all boys
this year, but they prove to do a good job anyway. Whichever aid it is, they help and that's what counts. Besides,
if it weren't for them who else Qaides from the Administrationj would yell at us.
LIBRARY AIDES, Left to Right, Row 1: C. Frasco, L. Lachman, S. Downing, K. Huff, O. Gracia, E. Ornelas,
R. Daniel. Row 2: Mrs. Wilaon, A. Yardly, L. Stockton, T. Hildebrand, L. Chaffy, A. jones, S. Peterson.

CREATIVITY A D WORK:
Q.V. STAFF
Amy Jendrock talks about the pictures as Linda Wade intently listens.
Mrs. Morris, journalism teacher, helps "Stretch" with a layout.
"Creativity and Work" was this
years Quo Vadis staffs' theme
because that is what it takes to
produce a good and interesting
yearbook. The staff takes great
pride this year because they have
gotten away from the usual year-
book. For example, the cover this
year is embaused fraisedj.
The yearbook staff also experienced
a new teacher, Mrs. Morris. She is
also an English teacher.
The staff worked together with Mrs
Morris during the year in order to
meet with the deadlines in which
the pages of the yearbook had to be
sent in. Everyone deserves credit
on the yearbook.
We hope you will enjoy this year-
book and all the memories it will
bring as you look at it in the years
to come. We present to you the

A Time forrWork and a Time for Play
"School days, school days, good 'ole golden
rule days . . . " That's how the song once
went, but today it's being sung and played
differently. There's many more exciting
classes than the "3R's" our parents knew.
There are 3 bands, beginning band, Inter-

resents our school in competition. The
choir is large but can really carry a tune!
They perform in the Christmas program,
and Spring Concert. Whossays school has

Student Council helps to improve the school prob-

activities for the students. They improved the

This year the serious and the comical combined to make
an excellent Christmas program.
Plays are for students who can't stand routine, and like
to escape from the usual scene. Classes and Drama put on
the shows, But when we pile in, anything goes! So as
you can see, plays bring great relief, but only add to
the Custodians grief. Same old classes every day, but
putting on a play changes that way. Plays are put on
during the year, they change the monotonous moods to
cheers!
