CLASS HISTORY It was the fourth day of September 1948 a calm peaceful day radtant w1th the sunshme of hope cheer and Joyous promise that the good SDBCCSDID LHS stood at anchor at the latmchrng pad of a new school year lt was the same old space shrp that had carrred many passengers to safe harbor in the Land of Great Wrsdom but this day was a gala day rn IIS hlstory and many people gazed upon ll rn wonder as they watched the beautlful and charming young ladtes and the bold and dashmg young gentlemen as they so happtly stepped aboard for rt was rumored that they were about to set sarl over new and untned waters in a quest for the Fountam of Perfect Understandlng The curtain was opened tonrght on the Senrors who started to Leroy 1n the Flrst Grade the group who started the quest for the Fountarn of Perfect Understandrng When thrs small group whrch consrsts of Margaret Jimmy Rich Lourse Patrrcla Ann Porter Dan Dock Martha Nell Margre Horace Fred John Marvrn and Floyd and Hazel began school they never dreamed that th1s would be one of the largest classes to graduate from Leroy and one to have from Germany an exchange student Wolfgang Gunther By the trme they reached the Sixth Planet Maudre Edward Flora Lee Tommy Carl and Franklrn had jorned Our class was almost completed at the end of the Nrnth Grade when Amta Eumce Rose Polly Rudolph Vonctlle Faye Jantce Patrrcra Webb Glorra Glenda Bobby Dean Jrmmy Elmore Pete Johnny Jerryl Jrm Mauldln Juamta Ronald and l had Jorned The twelth grade at last and the completron of our planet' We had frnally reached our long sought for goal By 'hrs trme Wolly Joe Ben and Douglas had Jorned us Yes our class has grown through the years and as each of the members of the Semor Class looks back over th1s year we see many treasured memorres that wrll not soon be forgotten We elected Johnny as our President Hazel as Vrce President Rose as Secretary Gloria Treasurer Pete Reporter and Parl1amentarian Floyd First came the football season Dock Gartmen and Jrrn Mauldrn were captarns of the football team The football players were very fortunate to have Margaret Anlta Faye as Cheerleaders and Glorra as head Cheerleader The selection of M1ss Football tumed out to be one of the outstanding events of the year One of our lovely grrls Faye was chosen Time marched on and each day stored up memories Glenda was chosen Good C1t1zensh1p Gxrl and Rich was chosen Good Citizenshlp Boy Anita represented us in the Azalea Trarl and she and I were chosen as edrtors of the Annual One of the biggest highllghts of the year was when the Hrgh School chose Mxss Leroy Hrgh Gloria was elected and An1ta Faye Hazel and I served as mards Faye Margaret and Juanrta were elected Beauty F1nal1sts One by one the days passed then came the Semor Play Amta Tommy Glorra Jrmmy Polly Johnny Faye Floyd Martha Franklin Margre Flora Lee Hazel and I made up the cast We are proud of our baseball boys and the fine record they made this year We wish to thank everyone for making our Semor Year such an enJoyable one and especrally do we thank our advisor Mrs Melton for betng so patrent and understandtng Wtthout her help many of the thrngs would not have been posslble It would take too long to read the complete log of thrs voyage but after all is has but lrttle v1tal srgnrfrcance except to ourselves the few who st1ll remarn together to land tonrght at Commencement Wharf It has been a most wonderful voyage and we have accumulated many souvemrs from every port and these thrngs whrch will be of greater service on the Voyage of Real Lrfe upon whlch we are thls day to embark As we come to the end of our Joumey here and plan to go out rnto the world II seems to be a BIG WIDE WONDERFUL WORLD Class I-lrstorran Rosa Prrtchard 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - . 1. , , , . 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . 1 - 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 11 11
