For the second consecutive year Leon's swim- ming and diving teams have qualified to com- pete on a state-wide level. The team swam away with high honors at both the District and State meets. The team boasts lettermen this year, including such standouts as: Sheila Coldwell, Linda Austin, Kitty Bayfield, Mark Calhoun, Linda Gormley, Dotty Pope, Kathy Pope, lohn Ray, lohnny Townsend. Swimming is the only sport at Leon where both girls and boys are given a chance to earn athletic L's . This year's team will loose only one gradu- ating senior, Sheila Coldwell, who has previ- ously lettered. So the potentiality for next year is unlimited! Our underclassmen show unlimit- ed ability and have resources which will be brought out by more experience. Our, hard working diving team is composed of such state-wide known figures as Linda Gormley, who lettered last year too. Consid- ering that this is Leon's second year in corn- petition the squad has done exceptionally well under the direction of their coach Alf King.
