What was to blame for all that hammering, banging and drilling that was going on all around you? Why couldn’t students use the Stairs by the cafeteria to get to the first floor? Why didn’t Room 105 have any windows? Why was Room 121 on the second floor in the library? You guessed it: the addition. The addition was the biggest change at L.H.S. since the advent of double sessions. It was a type of insanity; a change that we, as students, were expected to adapt to and deal with as we did double sessions. And, for the most part, we did. L.H.S. has changed, and, as it changed, so have we.

room wing, science wing, bandroom, gymnasium, cafeteria, and trade shops. But what did the addition mean to the average student? To most of us, the ad- dition meant chaos. There were workmen running in and out, creating a lot of confusion, just as much noise, and a gigantic mess. The addition meant hunting for a parking space by dawn’s early light and dances at Southeast Elemen- tary School because of the parking problem. The addi- tion meant an indefinable “construction” smell that invaded every corner of every room; it was also the reason why that big mound of dirt was sitting on the side of the gym playing field.
