And now too old and bent am I to see my dream set free. “For dreams are bound by man’s weak will, his cowardice, and sense. The task of living what is real, true happiness prevents. “Dreams can be, when man directs, a vessel to the soul. Let me run through fields with my bare feet loving the earth and drinking all its goodness into my soul, And let me fall down laughing into a bed of flowers. As the walls of my prison close in around me I can hear my voice, faint and distant, shouting in my ear, “I’m free! Oh, God, V imertee = Marie Rice Y ACIVITIES 11 THANKSGIMNG RALLY On November 24, 1971, the annual Thanksgiving rally was put on by the girls of the class of “72” and the cheerleaders. An hour and a half of skits, a simulated football game, jokes, and a cheering crowd help to “psyche” up the players for the 88th traditional game competition. 1T2 113 CENIOR CLASS PLAY The Trade High School and LHS cooperated to present A Man for All Seasons, a play by Robert Bolt. Under the direction of Mrs. Elsie Adams, and Cindy and Debby Pirro, student directors, the cast enacted the story of the life of the Lord Chancellor Thomas More and his fate in a confused and charging society. More’s adherence to his principles and his death on the scaffold after a mock trial are relevant to today’s audience, and were impressively brought home to those who attended. poster design by Donna Riccuitti 114 CLASS of 2 @ es: : U Zi 9 my 7) : i A t The Common. Participation in the production involved the entire club; it was both a learning and a fun experience. Students and teach- ers modeled clothes from two boutiques in our area, and the mod fashions were shown to the hard rock sound of “Zeek’s Department.” After the show was completed, the audience and participants danced on stage and in the aisles. CENIOR CLASS WRAP-IN OEE ay, EN No Owe In the spirit of Christmas, the class of ’72 held a “Wrap-In” for under privileged children. Toys were donated by area businesses or by the students themselves, and one entire evening was devoted to wrapping them. Barbara Zomlefer and Betsy Barnett co-ordinated the wrap-in. photographic credit: Jokin Russo 120 RA RY 121 CENIOR CLASS PARTY Beacuse it would be the class of ’72’s last year at LHS, activities as a whole class were stressed. After the Thanksgiving Rally in the LHS gym, every student was invited to a sen- ior class “get together” at the Leominister Youth Center. Seniors made food, and it was quickly eaten. Later folk and piano music was played. Some students took advantage of the recreation equipment, while others explored the center. photographic credit: Barbara Zomlefer 122 123 NIGHT — ‘THE POINT’ H SaQatrearoz tO DYyW GUD quUDdHwsat 124 i i cp peti neem ME a) do, at he {U0 rivvtauaittam i . - “te.
