PUBLIC SPEAKING In speech class our troupes discovered pantomimes, speeches, and discussions—Demosthenes or Sara Bernhardt? From public speaking would we reach the stage or a podium or television broadcasting? Wherever we might go, the sea wouldn't be so rough that it would smother our voices or disturb our poise. Mrs. Adams and Mr. Lanza guided us through the days on the stage or behind the podium with contidence and grace. MUSIC DEPARTMENT With Mr. Bisceglia, baton in hand, conducting the classes in music, we learned to play instruments as well as sing in the chorus. He instilled in us a heartfelt appreciation of the sheer poetry of music as well as knowledge from his course in music appreciation.
