TRAVIS DISLER V Pres1dent KING KLOPENSTEIN Pres LILA SCHLATTER Secretary Class Motto Mmd Not the Breakers, But Stralght Ahead Class Flower Red Rose Class Colors Purple and Sllver SENIOR HISTORY W1th the opemng of school ln the fall of 1937 the members of the h1gh school group slghted a new green element ln the1r mldst It was the class of 1941 Wh1Ch then was composed of slxty three members tht. largest class ever to enter Leo Hlgh School The V1V1d color soon faded w1th the tlme Early ID the year a class meetmg was held Klng Klopfensteln was selected pres1dent Travls Dlsler lSSlSt9d hxm as v1ce plesldent Ph1l1p1na Levy accepted the posltlon of secretary treasurer MISS Frances Ream acted as class sponsor Full of pep and determlnatlon the class returned 1n 1938 ready for the second lap of the Journey The class was unfortunate zn losmg eleven members As sophomores the class elected Travls Drsler pres1dent ugth Wayne Rosselot as h1s asslstant and Al1ce K1pfer secretary treasurer Mr Glen Fry served as class a v1sor Helen Klopfenste1n and Geraldlne Bucher were chosen from the class as two of the cheer leaders The sophomore gxrls were fortunate and won the t1tle of softball and basketball champlons After a seemmgly brlef vacatlon of four months the class of 41 returned assummg the responslbxhtles of Jumors The Jumor year IS supposed to be a drfiicult one so 1n order to propel the class as rapxdly as posslble toward success the class elected Wayne Rosselot pres1dent Ph1l1p1na Levy v1ce pres1dent Betty Jean Frelmuth secretary treasurer MISS Frances Ream and Mr Omer Flsher consented to assume the dut1es of class sponsorshrp The class recelved the1r class rmgs the first week of November Helen Klopfenste1n agaxn was selected as one of the cheer leaders The Jumor g1rls retamed the tltles of softball and basketball champlons Wh1Ch they had galned as sophomores A catchy three act comedy Pop Goes the Weasel was presented by the Jumors November 29 and 30 It was 1n the Junlor year that the Leo Llons won the1r first County Basketball tournament Two of the Jumor boys who played 1n the tournament were John Kasxmler Jr and Harold Sprlnger Rose of the Danube was a school operetta presented March 6 and 7 The Jumors cllmaxed the year by sponsormg an 1nformal sports receptlon honorlng the senlors at Hotel Indlana Aprll 18 For the last tlrne the class assembled taklng on formal1t1es of a senlor group Flfty members returned ready to complete the1r last year of school Klng Klopfenstem performed the dUt1eS of pres1dent TFHVIS D1sler served agaln as VICE pres1dent L1la Schlatter was selected as secretary treasurer Mr Paul Hard 1ng and IVIISS Frances Ream were class sponsors The senlor boys won thexr 1n1t1al class basketball charnplonshlp whxle the glrls chalked up the1r thlrd consecutlte vlctory The senlors publlshed the Leo Hlgh L1ghtS durmg the1r semor year and vt on for th1s publ1cat1on an A ratlng wxth The NHtlOD3l Duplxcated Paper Assoc1at1on Several members of the class mcluded on the varslty basketball team were namely John Kaslmler Jr Harold Sprlnger and Darrell Wltte Geraldlne Bucher and Helen Klopfenstem assumed the posltlons of cheer leaders for the1r last tune Wavne Rosselot was elected pres1dent of the newly organlzed Booster Club An enjoyable tlme vt as had at the skatlng partles held at Bell s Rlnk on October 2 and March 19 Oh Aunt Jerusha was the play presented by the semols Several extra features mcluded 1n the play made the play extremely mterestmg The senlors were guests of the Junlors at a lovely receptlon The clzmaxmg events of the year were the baccalaureate and commencement BXEPCISGS held Aprll 27 and May 2 Rev Dale Glles addressed the class at the baccalaureate SGTVICGS and Rev Hovs ard Broun was the commencement speaker After four years of studymg the class was txulv sorry to break the school tles Wlth the knowledge and experlence gamed the class of 41 vtlll confidently cl1mb toward the ultlmate goal of lxfe SUCCESS' tt 10? , . , . v 7 . . .
