The selection was based on academic achievement, and involvement in school and community related activities. All are in the top quarter of their class and are involved in student govern- ment, academically oriented extracurricular activities, athletics, and a wide variety of community projects as well. These students joined other outstanding high school students from across the nation and around the world in meetings with government leaders and Washington observers. The students at- tend formal seminars where they have access to the people who make and influence decisions and policies that affect all of us. The goal of the program is to foster leadership potential and civic responsibility among student leaders by exposing them to the dynamics of our democratic system at its nucleus - Washington D.C. Future Physicians Club has had a varied program this year. Joining with other clubs from high schools in Burl- ington County under the auspices of Dr. Alan Wirtshafter, the students have had speakers representing various medical specialities. This year, they have listened to a neurologist, pathologist, orthopedic surgeon and an obstetricianfgynecologist. Dr. Ryan, the school surgeon and an obstetricianfgynecologist. Dr. Ryan, the school doctor and family practitioner, spoke to the club members at Lenape. A trip to Temple Sports Mediciane Clinic is scheduled for the spring. Chess Club The chess team competes in a conference of thirteen teams from the south Jersey area. The team had some struggles, yet managed to finish the year with a 5-8 record. Next year looks to be promising. Fellowship of Christian Athletes The Fellowship of Christian Athletics is a group of students interested in learning more about God through Bible study, fellowship and lots offun. CHESS CLUBXFCA 231
