Craig Johnson cannot seem to outjump his foe. BOYS BASKETBALL: Dan Herrmann, Lenape Times have been tough for the Lenape boys basketball program in the last few years - real tough. The Indians have been able to manage just three wins over the last two seasons. That type of ineptitude is enough to try the patience of even the most diehard basketball lover, but it wasn't enough to make Dan Herrmann give up. Herrmann is a senior tri-captain on this year's Lenape team. He survived an O-24 finish in 1985 and a 3-21 mark in 1986, but along with his teammates has continued working to try and make this season a memorable one. Dan just loves to play basketball, Lenape coach Jim Greway said. We have only won three games in the past two years, but he has really hung in with us during that time. Los- ing is tough, but Dan is a pretty resilient kid. He always bounces back. lnstead of bouncing back this season, Herrmann and his teammates hope to start fighting back in the form of a respectable record come season's end. Dan has taken on a leadership role along with the other captains, Pat Fisher and Craig Johnson, Greway said, With their leadership, we think this is the year we can turn the cor- ner and become a 500 team. If that goal is to become a reality, the 5-11 shooting guard will have to shoulder much of the leadership and scoring burden. So far this season he appears ready for the challenge. In his third year as a starter, Herrmann is averaging 22.5 points a game in the early going, and the Indians are off to a respectable 2-2 start.
