Sports, Lena Piresg Tan,-Clara Jacobs. time JUNIOR PLAY PLEASES LOCAL AUDIENCE A large and appreciative audi- ence attended the annual presen- tation of the Junior Play last Thursday night at the Lemoore Union High School auditorium. This year's production was Peg O' My Heart the story of a little Irish miss who comes 'to make her home with her aristocratic British aunt and snobbish family. The role of Peg was ably taken by Claudine Rose who portrayed the pretty Irish heroine with spirit and ability. Lila Mae Soderstrom took the part of the English aunt of high degree with poise and un- derstanding, while Sherman Blay- lock in the romantic lead, Tommy Blakely as the cousin of the hero- ine and IAVerne Avila as the un- happy daughter of the wealthy family gave outstanding perform- ances. Ted Wyke was seen as the typical English butler, Jim Bald- win as a barrister and Margaret Jones as the maid in the household completed the cast of the enjoy- able production. Two canine mem- bers of the romantic comedy were Nicky Short and Chinee Har- rington, and both added a realis- tic touch to the presentation. An attractive stage setting was the living room in Regal Villa in Scarbourough, England. Those who were named on the staff, besides Miss Josephine Van Fleet, direc- tor of the production, and her RS- DR. PHILLIPS EBEGINS 13th FORUM SEASON Dr. Hubert Phillips of the Fres- no State College opened the 13th annual community forum season at the Lemoore High school on last Wednesday night. The forum ihas been sponsored by the high lschool for the past years under ithe adult education program. A large audience enjoyed the Fresno educator's discussion of Freedom and Democracy.
