Women ' s Volleyball The 1978 volleyball team smashed their way to an 18-2 record this season, losing only to Rutgers University and York College, two of the top teams in the East. Led by MVP Kathy Benusa, Co-Captain Irene Pavels, defensive standout Laura Moore and freshman ace Patty Glavin, the team participated in two regional tournaments. Dunne, M. Messics, B. Klotz, R. Devine, E. Wagner, Coach Covert, Cross Country Coach John Covert ' s cross country team started their season off swiftly. They beat the University of Pennsylvania for the first time, which turned out to be the highlight of a 7-5 season that included a fourth place showing at the East Coast Conference meet. Co-Captains Jim Davis and Dave Rohr paced the team with Davis winning the Maxwell Trophy for the team member with the best seasonal record. Next year ' s team will feature many returning lettermen and will host the 1979 N.C.A.A. Championship race. The cross country course at the Saucon Valley fields was widened and modified in the preparation for this event.
