But the class, we feel, that will stand out the most The class of '59, of which we're proud to boast. Though our class is full of fun, VVe realize too, the jobs to be done. We'll forge ahead and do our best Yes, We'll rank high along with the rest. We remember all the friends we've known For they've helped form our cornerstone. We remember, too, how our time was given Toward our futures for which we've striven, And as we dream of the days gone by We realize now why the alumni sigh. For as we leave, our adulthoods near We know we've spent our best 12 years - In Our Leetonia High School. Gayle Garwood CLASS SONG Tune: It's All In The Game. Many a tear has to fall As we all say goodbye To all the wonderful days at Leetonia High. We leave days of joy and sorrow that we know, But we thinks our hearts can rise above. Once-in-awhile we will thinks of the days gone by, All of the wonderful days at Leetonia High. As our days are few and our memories linger through Then we'll all bid you adieu. H. Space Port awaiting the arrival of the President and Vice President. As we look around we see the great D. C. '1'. news reporter, Tom Fraser, and his photographer, Gary Bush, interviewing the co-managers of this space port, jerry Gabriel and Alice Mathey. Meanwhile on the other side of the building we lind another reporter from the G.0.F. television network. janice Shinn, inter- viewing the crew of the Frontiersman. She's talking to the pilot, Ernie Bakerg behind them in a small group is the rest of the crew: Don Lodge is the co-pilot and the navigator, who will guide them through the stars, is Mervin Bartholowg the nurse and radio operator-Nancy Altomare and Ralph Quinn-are drinking super-sonic cokes. At gate number 50, the designer, -ludy Osterling, and the electrical engineer, Raymond Pyles, are viewing their masterpiece with pride. There is a rustle in the crowd as the President's personal policeman, David Hosack, is clearing the way for the President .james Lydon and the Vice Presi- dent, Linda Farrington. Meanwhile two of our policewomen, Sandra Volpe and Sue Katin, have caught a suspicious looking character sneaking through the crowd, but it turned out to be a plainclothesman, Allen Franklin, Now for the big moment: the saucer is ready for take-off. john Gibson is just finishing the count down-3-2-l. BLAST OFF! The first Earth President to visit the moon is on his way. While at Uranus, the Vice President and the other women passengers decided to see a fashion show at the noted dress shoppe owned by Delores Baker and Kaye Coma. The clothes in the show were designed by Kathryn Bailey and Carol Falzetta. Modeling the creations were jane Fife and Antionette Girard. While preparing to leave we noticed the fashion editor for the Uranus Herald, Mary Ellen Lipp On our next stop we saw King Neptune, john Ferry, with the Queen, Janet Sadler. At the window we noticed the Princess, Kay Ann Senior, waiting for her Prince Charming. Nearing the planet Pluto, we noticed Joseph Gbur, a famous spaceship racer, and Lawrence l-leberling, an outstanding interplanetary motorcyclist, getting ready to race to the Sun. They were trying to decide which was the faster. As they start off we finally land on the planet Pluto. We now are on the last planet, Pluto, where we soon learned that Ruth King has a famous dog act which was trained by W'ilbur jones. Nearby we noticed Coach Eugene Leffler coaching his interplanetary football team, which has won many trophies because of the skill of their great quarterback, Charles Lippiatt. Speeding back to the Moon, we see Richard Prior, the interplanetary motor- cycle policeman. He is searching for Blames Grove, a famous detective lost on a Moon Satellite, On another satellite we noticed a big sign reading, Smith Sisters' Syrup for Cough, and we were told that Peggy and Ruth Smith were the owners with Joyce Roessler as their sampler. On our way we stop at the Milky Way where we get milk from Thomas Rude- bock who owns a dairy farm. The cook, Louise Kiliany, will use it for preparing the meal. Page Thirty-three EE ZLLCQIZ For the after-dinner entertainment we have the famous vocalist, Nova jean Edgerton, and her equally famous accompanist, Miriam Davis. ln the meantime we have decided to take a tour of all the planets as we are ahead of schedule. Our first stop will be on the Sun where Sandra Boston and Pat Bean are busy making Boston Baked Beans. On our way from the Sun to Mercury, where we find David Gorman making thermometers, we are being entertained by the great comedy team, Mutt and jeff, played by Jay Haney and john Fast. Our next stop is Venus, where we will visit the famous G, 8: S Modeling Ag- ency owned by Warren Gullett and james Smith. While we're there we get to meet their well-known models, Marie Perry and Marlene Miller. The next stop is on Mars where we get fresh fruit for a snack from Joseph Less and Barbara Kalafus who own large orchards. Getting ready to leave we noticed -Ioyce Newton. She was the owner of a well established cookie factory, making Fig Newtons. At our next stop, jupiter, we go to the Metropolitan Opera, which is owned by Alice Bower, to see the famous opera singer, janet Miller, accompanied by Hazel Bartholow, singing Gayle Garwood's latest opera. Saturn is our next destination. We plan to visit the universally famous jewelry store of Lyn Altomare where they make rings from star dust. At last arriving at the Moon, we were greeted by the Moon's President and Vice President, jerry Mcllowin and .loyce Morris. They took us on a sightseeing tour of the Moon which included a stop at the main studio of W. F. H. A. TV. Operating the cameras for Terri Reese's Sports' Review was George Martin. As we were talking to Kenneth Mathey, the owner of the television station, we saw ,Iudy McCormick giving a commercial. When Thomas Haschen, accom- panied by his body guard, Robert Osterling, gave us a personal invitation to his new night club, we accepted. At the night club we saw jean Oliver and Donna Steeker, who were dancers, and james Ashman was our waiter. But the star performer was Miss Wilhelm doing the Hula Hoop. And this ends our wonderful journey. Page Forty-six The Leetonia High School Band is considered to be one of the finest bands for schools its size in Northeastern Ohio. The Marching band presents fine half-time entertaimnent at eight football games. Emphasis is placed on precision marching. A Pep Band performs at basketball games. The band combines with the choruses for the traditional Christmas program. The Annual Spring Concert highlights the band's activities for the year. The band also participates in many community activities such as Homecoming, Memorial Day and Halloween Parades, the County Fair, and P. T. A. programs, Small ensembles and soloists are in demand for many church and service elub functions. During Mr. Meinhardt's six years as instrumental supervisor the department has grown from a nineteen member to a well equipped and balanced sixty piece band with a feeder band of sixty members. The band's contest record has con- sisted of three superior and one excellent rating in district and state contests. The band's growth and recognition have resulted in the building of a new and spacious music room. This year the band was honored to be chosen to appear in the First Chairs of America , a book which recognizes the better high school bands from all over the cotmtry. Leetonia is indeed proud of their fine band. idra Volpe, .-Kun Nicolette, Head Majorette Carol Keagy. Cheryl DL'l'lll0ll2l, Nlvrna Bruderly. The Cage family seek peace in an old farmhouse. There, Mother remodels coffeegrinders into lamps, while Father tries to write a best-seller novel in a blitz of interruptions instead of that country quiet he sought. ln the blitz, he ignores the arrival of jonathan and Mathilda, who have the right to live in the Gage home, No one had worried about that clause in the deed, since the Rock- woods were supposed to he dead. A contest for possession begins, with neither able to turn the other out. -jonathan plans to hold a funeral of an old acquain- tance in the house. l5arbara's boy-friend doesn't appear at the right time and Barbara and the Rockwoods' son go out on an errand of mercy when a blizzard clamps down. The Gages and the Rockwoods are isolated. The electric lines fail and the oil-burner and the range won't work. Mother forgot to shop for food anyway! ln the freezing house, while the Gages breakfast on what's left- cornflakes, molasses, and olives!-from the rooms of the unmodern Rockwoods come gusts of warmth from their woodburner, and the smell of coffee and fry- ing ham. The Gages rally around Father and his cornflakes and olives, until they smell the Rockwoods' fresh biscuits! Then they desert Father-and it even looks as if Barbara had eloped with the Rockwoods' son. It looks like complete disaster. But in the delightful ending, all is happily and intelligently solved.
