WARRIOR - 1944
of years. Perhaps the outstanding game of the season was one
played against Toledo on the local court in which the Mudhens
emerged victorious 29 to 27 but only after two overtime ses-
sions had been played.
Lebanon finished third in district competition this year be-
hind Corvallis and Toledo. Two boys, Ralph Cooper at ior-
ward and Lynn Hamilton at center, were placed on the All-
district second team and Hamilton was third high scorer with
a total of 67 points in league play.
Of the 8 boys receiving letters only one boy will be lost by
graduation. Ralph Cooper, captain of this year's team is the
only departing senior but his ball playing ability will be sorely
missed when the 1945 season rolls around. Ralph proved an
excellent team leader and his spirit and sportsmanlike manner
in competitions label him as one of the best ever to wear a
Lebanon uniform. The following boys received letters at the
close of the season: Seniors: Captain Ralph Cooper, Iuni-
ors: Bob Olds, Cedric Wallace tboth Co-captains for the 1945
seasonl, Bill Peden: Sophomores: Dave Powell, Lynn Hamil-
ton, Dean Ward, Freshmen: Ron Cox: Managers: Bill Conner
and Bob Downing. 7

With a somewhat curtailed schedule, due to transportation
difficulties, Lebanon has only 8 games lined up for the base-
ball season. At the time of this writing the season has just
started, and Coach Bud Page is holding daily workouts with

With the advent ,of Basketball, Coach Bud Page found
himself fade to face' with the same problem that had confronted
him in football-lack of experienced players. Although four
lettermen were on hand, 'only two of them,' Captain Ralph
Cooper andsophomore Lynn Hamilton were starters from the
year before while 'Bob Olds and Cedric Wallace, the other two
lettermen, had just seen enough action the year before to earn
their letters but were", not experienced veterans at the game
Lack of heightiwas. another discouraging factor as Hamilton
was the only boy who stood over the 6 foot mark and the oth
ers were considerably lacking in altitude
In spite of these shortcomings, the Warriors had a suc
cessful season and their aggressive and fast breaking style
of ball caused many a headache for opposing teams and-fpro
vided many a thrill for the spectators. Lebanon played '18
games during the course of the season and the close of the
