Remember to remember . . . It’s hard to believe that the 1969—70 school year has come to a close, the last pictures have been identified, and the last pages stamped. In the words of Bob Dylan, “The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast; the slow one now will later be fast, as the present now will later be past.” The lingering moments of our store have now become the past. They were days of change. We sought and we found. We became a part and we grew. Every day was an episode in an all-too-soon ending story, a story in which all of us were the main characters. Through others we found ourselves. We discovered ambitions, made dreams, and overcame obstacles. It is my hope that the 1970 PIONEER will present an accurate account of YOUR YEAR, and that you will review these memories with as much pleasure as I have found in recording them. I wish to express my sincere thanks to the staff members who contributed their time and effort to collect these happenings and who made my task so enjoyable. I extend a special thanks to others who have made the 1970 PIONEER possible: Our sponsors, Miss Nell Howard and Mrs. Doris Bundy; Mr. Frank W. Horton, our principal; Mr. Phillippi, the Delmar photographer; The businesses who supported us with advertisements, And you, the students, for without you there would have been no story. Finally, to the Class of 1970. “I do not wish you joy without a sorrow. Nor endless day without the healing dark, Nor brilliant sun without the restful shadow, Nor tides that never turn against your bark. I wish you love, and strength, and faith, and wisdom. Goods, gold enough to help some needy one, I wish you songs, but also blessed silence, And God’s sweet peace when every day is done.” — D.N.M. Sincerely, Gwen Kiser, Editor 127
