The Future Farmers of America, or " FFA " as it is commonly known, is the national organization for boys studying vocational agriculture in public secondary schools. The organization was founded in 1928 and has served to motivate and vitalize in- struction offered to students of vocational agri- culture, and to provide further training in farmer- citizenship. The organization has four degrees of active membership - " Green Hand " , " Chapter Farmer " , " State Farmer " , and " American Farmer " . The Jr. Tri-Hi-.Y under the direction of its advisor, Mrs. Alma Buckles, has been very active this year. This club has strived to do its best to improve the home, school, and community. Some projects undertaken t h i s year were: taking magazines to the hos- pital, sponsoring a family for White Christmas, taking part in assembly programs, and donating money to worthy causes. The French Club is composed of sixty “two members which include only students taking French I, II, in. The Mardi Gras, the annual social event sponsored by the French Club, was held in February. The theme was Hawaii. Joyce Ramey and Robert Jessee were chosento reign overthe year’s festiv- ities. During the summer of 1966, three French Club students from L.H.S. were part of a group of stu- dents traveling in France for 6 weeks, under the direction of the Foreign Language League.. Mrs. Julia Bundy acted as chaperone. The first three weeks were spent in St. Servan, a small town on the northern seacoast; the second three weeks were spent in Meaux, a small town near Paris. High- lights of the trip included excursions in the Loire Valley in France and in London, England.
