The Jr. Tri-Hi-.Y under the direction of its advisor, Mrs. Alma Buckles, has been very active this year. This club has strived to do its best to improve the home, school, and community. Some projects undertaken t h i s year were: taking magazines to the hos- pital, sponsoring a family for White Christmas, taking part in assembly programs, and donating money to worthy causes. The Jr. Tri-Hi-Y alsore- c e i V e d the Ace Award, the highest award given by the Y Clubs, for its outstanding ac- complishments during the year. Under the leadership of Mr. Paul Helvey, the Hi-Y sponsor, the club has contri- buted to the school and to the community. Besides helping the J. C.’s at the County Fair and presenting programs to the school at Christmas and Eas- ter, the clubtook magazines to the jail and sent delegates to M.G.A. 65

The activity of the twenty-two members of the Sr. Tri-Hi-Y can be shown by the ace rating which they received at the Model General Assembly. Three members were sent as delegates to this assembly. Programs for the student body were givenand parti- cipated in by the club at Easter and Thanksgiving. Other programs were also presented by the Sr. Tri- Hi-Y. Club activities included money-making proj- ects, such as, providing pamphlets for the hospital trays at Easter. Members washed windshields as a part of a safe driving campaign. A clean sportsman- ship campaign was supported by this club. Obser- vance of National Y.M.C. A. week was a main activity. The Future Farmers of America, or " FFA " as it is commonly known, is the national organization for boys studying vocational agriculture in public secondary schools. The organization was founded in 1928 and has served to motivate and vitalize in- struction offered to students of vocational agri- culture, and to provide further training in farmer- citizenship. The organization has four degrees of active membership - " Green Hand " , " Chapter Farmer " , " State Farmer " , and " American Farmer " .
