POWER PLAY The Cedars exploded into the Lancas- ter-Lebanon League powered by a very experienced team, consisting of sixteen returning lettermen, and a new head coach, lohn Coles. Coach Coles aban- doned the wishbone offense for the power 1, which brought the team great success. The team compiled their first winning season since 1974 with an overall record of 6-3-1. The team also captured second place in the Lancaster-Lebanon League with a record of 4-2-1. Among the Cedar victories was a sur- prising upset over cross-town rival Cedar Crest. The Falcons were ranked eighth in the state when the Cedars handed them their first loss with a score of 15-9. An- other surprising upset was the Cedars defeating Lancaster McCaskey 12-7, The Red Tornados were ranked thirteenth in the state when they clashed with the Cedars. The Cedars provided a very ex- citing game as they held the Red Torna- dos four straight downs when they were one yard away from the goal line. The Cedar defense proved itself time and time again by giving up an average of a meager five points per game. The Cedars lose twenty-five seniors to graduation, twenty-three of whom were varsity lettermen. Nine of these players made up the first offensive unit, and ten made up the first defensive unit.
