Wolcott's 1964 Baseball squad compiled an impressive 11-7 win-loss record in Wayne County competition, Although the Warriors failed to win a berth in the Class B Sectionals, the Wolcott Varsity enjoyed a very successful season, highlighted by double victories over Marion, Red Creek, and arch rival North Rose. While the season had it's share of ups and downs, Wolcott's loyal fans had an opportunity to cheer to the unusual including a perfect game by Senior standout jim Duval and the tremendous slugging of rookie sensation Denny Blake. Batting 515, Blake reached base during every game establishing a new Wolcott record. Supplying the additional scoring punch in the lineup were Senior jeff Alteri, Bob Single, and Wayne johnson. Although Wolcott lost five Seniors due to graduation, the Warriors again are looking forward to another successful season with the return of Seniors Bill Palmer and Al Bowman, juniors Barry Blake and George Searle, and Sophomore standouts Denny Blake and Bill Payne. jaaiar Varsity Baseball Top rowh-Cleo Wright, Bob Warrick, Dave Crane, Keven Hamond, Garry Galek, Bob Windom, Mr. Strong. Due to the lack of space, Coach McDonald's boys practiced on the old Microd track which covers an eighth of a mile. Since all the other county tracks are one fourth of a mile in length, the team worked at a disad- vantage, Hank Allen was Wol- cott's top track star placing second in the Hurtles at the Sectionals. With most of last year's squad returning including Ron Redden, Ed Hawkins, and Barry Powell, the Track team's future looks quite bright. For the third straight year, the Cross-Country team, under the watchful eye of Coach Peter McDonald, enjoyed another successful season Although the squad was plagued by injuries late in the season, the Harriers still placed third in the Wayne County standings. Wayne Central continued to be the only team which could consistently beat Wolcott, defeating the team in both outings. Ed Hawkins remained Wolcott's top runner placing first in the county and third in Sectional Competition. With initially the same squad returning next fall, the Cross-Country team is again looking forward to another succesful year. Although only two victorious matches crossed our path in 1964, the cool cats of the Wolcott Tennis Team did not consider the season skinny. Our coach was the one who pulled us through by burning our prides and washing our wounds in the gym. We actually had a lark in our somewhat futile efforts. juuivr Hzyh Basketball Rqw 1, left to rigbl-Randy Mills, Michael Kenney, Robert Searle, Richard Briggs, Bruce Galek, Robert Qahoon, Isaac Provo.
