One Senior Band member was chosen for the NYSSMA All-State Music Festival Band at Penn Yan. An eighth grade member was chosen to attend the All-State junior High Festival held in Newark. Nine band members were chosen by auditing to attend the Wayne County Band Festival held at Wayne Central School in February. The entire band has performed this year at the annual school fair, the Open House for American Education Week, the Wfayne County Teachers Conference, the Christmas Concert, and two programs for the elementary grades at the Florentine Hendrick School. These include New Eyes For the Needy, Christ- mas gifts to nursing home patients, March of Dimes campaign, and collection of articles for Newark State School. Several girls are also doing volunteer work at the Newark State School one Sat- urday a month. In December the club re- ceived a national honor. The Future Teachers of America Club seeks to enable its mem- bers to secure accurate infor- mation on vocational oppor- tunities in education and the special competences required to aid in self-evaluation. It also seeks to participate in prevocational activities which are both exploratory and cle- velopmental in nature. The club plans an annual field trip to one of the near- by colleges or universities as well as assisting in several school projects.
