During de- ployment the Gunnersmates CGMQ maintained Iwi operational status of their gear. During Persian Gulf patrols both missile houses were manned by the Gunnersmates. Additionally the Ship 's Armorer, GMM2 DeCoste, led the ship 's Small Craft Alert Team CSCA Tj, in which eight gunmounts were manned. The SCAT team was made up of personnel from Admin, Supply, Oper- ations and Combat Systems Departments.
