MA The mountalns loomed hugh above us as we entered Leadvllle Hn h School on September 1 1955 We were seventy flve meek hearted but excited 'Subbnes When school began September 5 we realuzed the cllmb ahead was goung to be rugged but rewarding The g lde assngned to us was Mlss Kathleen Roche and we elected the following to be her asslstants President Jere Rood Vtce Press dent Meldon Hanson Secretary Jacky Graves Treasurer Dale Mad 'ialone Hnstorlan Jam Reasoner Reporter Robert Emerson replaced by lesloe Emerson The flrst an a long serles of hugh school soclal CCTIVITIBS tool: olace September 15 Our sknt a pantomme of the different months of the year hed for second place at thus all school party Dunng the rest of the school year we engaged ln many other actwltues The mo t important were mterclass skung basketball and softball the prom sprung and commencement dances all school pucm and our own class party Wuth the close of school June 1 we ascended the flrst small hull and began to look forward to our Freshman trek upward September 4 1951 was the begmmng of our Freshman climb We had grown un number to 100 by thus time and our courage had also nsen We were no longer meek Subbues but progressing Freshmen ready for the pitfalls ahead On September 7 our gulde stall belng Mlss Roche we elected new assustants Presudent Kay Glover Vlce President Richard Ceruse l.eoM Geehan Hlstorlan Joann Cameron Reporter Warren Blstram October 12 marked the date for Freshman relaxatnon ln the form of a Columbus Day Class Party Although we were defeated m the fmal game of mterclass basket ball we were now more determmed and courageous The all school plcnlc culminated the years actlvltles and so we as ended the second lap of our cllmb On September 2 1952 seventy four vlvaclous Sophomores en thusnastlcally enrolled at L H S to advance to their thlrd path toward the summut Those elected to assist Mlss Roche as traul gundes were President Jere Rood Vlce President Denms Herrick Secretory Shirley Flne Treasurer Jaclue Graves Hlstonan Jume Crowley Reporter Ruth Newton Student Cauncll Representatives Pat Cato and Warren Blstram When the tlme came for mterclass sr orts the Sophs were no longer scaffed at because they won second place rn both skung and basketball As we neared the end of our Sophomore year we began to see the mountalns level off little did we know that the hardest and steepest climb was yet to come The tragedies and entanglement: ahead were far beyond our vlslon but also were the frlendshlps good times and happlnesses The slxty three members of the class of '15 enrolled as upper classmen on September 1 1953 and embarked on a road far sur po sung nts predecessors The followlng officers were selected President Donald McMahon Vace Presldent Warren Blstram Secretary DIXIE Denms replaced by Jume Crowley Treasurer Janet Glover Hlstonan Amta Conyers Reporter Janet Stmer Student Council Representatives Mary Ann Mehle and Ball Sloden September 11 we attended the all school party glven by the Sensors and capped second prlze an the class stunts with our T V program Up to thus tlme the dangers encountered had been trlvnal the sorrows few bvt on September 12 the tragic death of our fnend and classmate Charles McHale Mucker' to most of us cast a great shadow upon us whnch was never to completely lnft for the memor of hum wall remam with each one not only during our hugh schoo' cllmb but on through the roads of llfe As we trudged onto paths ahead we were a httle wiser and more cautious than before November 13 14 are well remembered days for on these dates we the .lumors presented Bashful Bertle a three-act comedy Thr plav was a complete sellout both mghts February 28 we lubllantly accepted our long wanted for clas rlngs March 26 marked the flnal game of lnterclass basketball wuth the lumors vlctorlous over the Senlors On May 15 we departed from our course to the summit of edu cotton and ascended up the Stairway to the Stars Our prom and Banquet held in honor of the Senlors was one of the most memorable nnhts of our lives June 4 brought the end of our Jumor year and as we looked back down the mountaln stde we all wondered what would happen In the frnal lap of our clumb Fifty-elght students enrolled at l.
