school careers began on September 2 1949 Offucually fufty eager ambutuous Sub freshmen were stu dents on the unforgettable furst day of actual labor September 6 une furst class meetung was held on September 8 Class offu cers elected were Emmett OLeary Presudent Ralph Pearce Vuce presudent Mary Gunelson Secretary Carolyn Lollar Re porter Otto Denms Treasurer However due tothe resugnatuon of Carolyn who had moved to Denver Mary Catherune Weber fulled the unexpured term The All School Party was held on September 16 where the faculty and upper classmen became acquaunted wuth the small but mughty Subbues On November 11 we had a class party whuch was fulled wuth hllarlty danc ng and refreshments Betty Gene Bond was our strong candu cate for Senuor I-aur Queen The Inter class Sku Meet proved our outstandung natuve abuluty un skuung Donna Kay Roll won a second place and Sammy Hagan placed thurd Duuung May we partucupated un the All School Pucnuc Mlss Ida Belle Edgungton our sponsor spurred us on wrth hugh hopes for the ensuung year Regustratuon on September 1 1951 found us combunung forces wuth the welcomed graduates from St Mary s School The Freshman class had a membershup of 77 when school opened September 5 Once agaun class meetings convened and the followung offucers were elected Anton Bogunovuch Presudent Eob Kochevar Vuce presudent Betty Gene Bond Secretary Emmett O Leary Treasurer Claudette Walsh Reporter Our Senuor Falr Queen Candidate was Donna Kay Roll Our Class Party held December 1 was termed a huge success Durung the y ar we took second pruze for our stunt at the All School Party and also came un second un Inter class Basketball Our Gurls Sku Mary Ellen Kerrugan took second place un the Inter class Sku Meet The All School Pucnuc brought a gloruous end to the re markable years events We all apprecuated Muss Ida Belle Edg ngton s conscuentuous efforts as our class sponsor Successful preductuons were evudent as the followung offucers were elected to guude us through our Sophomore year Adolph Koroshetz Presudent Rohn Herruck Vuce presudent Mary Ellen Kerrugan Secretary Donna Kay Roll Treasurer Dorothy Ann Zalar Reporter On September 14 our class was quute proud as our stunt Past and Present took furst pruze Our Senuor Faur Queen Candudate Florence Jean McMahon reugned as Her Mauesty at the Senuor Faur November 30 found the band room cleverly decorated un a Toyland Theme for the class party Class prude was domm nt as our Gurls Sku Team lDorothy Ann Zalar Donna Kay Roll and Mary Ellen Kerruganl took furst place and the boys rated a second place The actuvutues of the year ended wuth the All School Pucnuc All the class offucers acted as members of the temporary Student Councul and helped form the constututuon for oncomung years We welcomed Mrs Mary Ellen Davudson as our sponsor We returned to the halls of educatuon on September 2 proud of the fact that we were now Junuors and upper class men Our class cabunet consusted of Emmett O Leary Presudent Rudolph Bost Vuce presudent Dorothy Ann Zalar Secretary Janet McDonald Treasurer Jummy Raune Reporter Mary Ellen Kerrugan Hustoruan At the begunnung of the year we once agaun took furst pruze for havung the best stunt at the All School Party On September 29 we entertauned the Senuors at our very successful Treasure Island Party Durung the weekend of December 12 and 13 the Junuor Play a three act comedy Call Me Darlung was applauded by large auduences The Inter class Sku Races gave the Junuor gurls second place and thurd place was attauned by the boys Our classmate and hugh scorer of the Panthers Emmett O Leary was named on the All Star Basketball Tournament Team at Alamosa On May 9 the Junuor Prom and Banquet a Petal Paraduse was the most gala socual event of the year Agaun our successful school yea was due to our capable and understandung sponsor Mrs Mary Ellen Davudson Reaching for superlatuve wusdom fufty students enrolled a Senuors on August 31 1953 Competent offuce s el c 4 A e Rudolph Bost Presudent Emmett OLeary Vuce presudent Gal Bare Secretary Janet McDonald Treasurer Jummy Raune Re porter and Mary Ellen Kerrugan Hustoruan We gave the ta dutuonal All School Party and awarded pruzes for outstanding stunts The All School Pucnuc was held un the fall at the scen c pucn c grounds of Twun Lakes Strenuous exercuse and consump tuon of much food added to a wonderful day free from studu LS 'asks The .Iunuor Semor Party was thoroughly enloyed by us as we were the honored guests of the .Iunuors The Leadvulle Gym nasuum was the center of attraction on October 2 and 3 Here we held our Semor Faur Tun Pan Alley whuch was a bug suc cess Rugged un outlandush costumes the Senuors celebrated Slouch Day Aprul 23 All students were un a lovual mood when summoned tothe audutoruum to vuew a performance by natu al born actors and actresses Echoes of hularuty were not heard on on Aprul 27 Teachers heads hung un sadness students wandered of the 3 Rs had skupped to Mount Prunceton Hot Sprungs The socual actuvuty of the year the Junuor Senuor Banquet and Prom was held May 15 and wull forever remaun a pleasant memo y Class Day was held May 28 The Senuors presented a sho bu umpressuve program Honors were bestowed upon the followung Valeductoruan Mary Catherune Weber Salutatoruan Darlyne Magura Most Representatuve Gurl Dorothy Ann Zalar Most Representatuve Boy Emmett O Leary D A R Award Donna Kay Rall On the 29th of May the Senuors lourneyed to Glenwood for Trup Day Baccalaureate servuces were held un the audutoruum May 30 Dr Fred Plachy of Adams State College deluvered the address On June 1 the sedate Sensors robed un caps and gowns receuved coveted duplomas at the Commencement Exer cuses whuch were held un the Elks Opera House Then we at tended a Commencement Dance at the gymnasuum guven un our honor by the Board af Educatuon Thus was the culmunatuan of our happy years spent at Leadvulle Hugh School Our pleasant memorues and
