progressrve class thrs was Our class started rts explorts rn September of 1947 We elected the followrng offrcers to lead us through thrs first year James Rrchardson presrdent Davrd Roll vrce presrdent Ralph Kennedy secretary Frances Kettunen who was succeeded by Jack Larsh treasurer Ellen Wal ters reporter Mrss Roche served as our able sponsor Our frrst socral functlon was the class party on Dec ember 12 We had an enjoyable class prcnrc rn the sprrng whrch was our last actrvrty of the ye rr We returned rn September of 48 streng hened by the addrtron of the students from St Marys School We knew our way around and wasted no trrne rn gettrng started The offrcers elected were Charles Carter p esrdent Jack Boyd xrce presrdent Charles Staab secretary Frances Kettunen treasurer Jack Larsh reporter Mrss Roche agarn arded us as our sponsor At the all school party we made our presence known by takrng second prrze rn the tunt competrtron We stepped out on December 3 at the cl s party whrch was conducted lrke a gypsy celebratron The hrlls around Soda Sprrngs vrbrated fr m the tramprng cf the students of L H S on May 21 when the all school prcnrc was held It was therr trme fo a rest so we took a short vacatron Cur soph more vear wa one of our most successful rn all our unde takrnvs Our class cabrnet corrsrsted of dent Joe McConnell secretary Frances Kettunen eas ure Drek Wambaugh reporter We had a new ponsor 'lr Murphy who was a brg help to us Second prize was urs agarn rn the stunt competrtron at the all school party Everybody had a good trme at our class party on November 18 We domrnated rnterclass competrtron that year by wrnnrng all the events whlch were skrrng baske ball and softball School ended wrth all f u lockrng fo ward to a brgger and better Junror year We returned ln Spetembe proud of the f ct that we were now Junrors and upper classmen Choser as offrce s were Joe McC nnell presrdent Charles Carter vrce p e dent, Vrola Zancanella secretary Frances Jolsnson We er tertarned the cl'rss of 51 at the Junror Serrro pa ty ' brg day was March 28 whrch was the day our class rrng arrrved The event of the year was the Junror Pom whrch took place on May 12 Frances Ketturrerr and Jen Normand rergned as queen and krng of thc lliardr Gmc The rnterclass s ftball crown remarned rn ou possessron We won rt wrth four shutouts Orr Jure 1 we tool' lea-,Q for three months and mentally prepared ourselves fo a great senror year Thrs was rt' Thrs was the year we had all been wartrng for Our frrst act was to elect the cabrnet whrch was Davrd Roll presrdent showed our good farth by entertarnrng the other classes at the all school party on September 14 Our farr on October 5-6 was a huge success both frnan crally and rn the knowledge that everybody had fun The theme of the bo ths and decoratrons was The Brg Rock Candy Mountaln We were royally entertained on November 2 by the Junrors at the Junror senror party Thrs proved that rf c ndrtrons warrant rt we can get along wrth tne Junrors At the begunnrnv of the second semester we got rrght to work on the Annual by electrng the staff Donald Cham peau was chosen edrtor A small tornado hrt the school on Ap rl 23 when we rn vaded rt wrth the Slouch Day Program It was hard to tell what some of us were supposed to be but rt was fur anyway Just a week later old L H S was deathly strll for we decrded we had enough school and needed a. rest We took the day off and went swrmmlng at Hortense Sprrngs The brg month of May Thrs was one of those trmes when everythrng seemed to happen at once The Junror followed by the Sprrng Dance on the 17th There were some worrred senrors on May 22 23 because that was the day we took our frnals and you never know what rrrght happen Baccalaureate services were held rn the hrgh school audrtorrum on May 22 There was a g est speaker from the Unrversrty of Colorado Dr Calvm E Crreder May 23 was Class Day as anyone who saw the drgnrfred senrors on the stage of the audrtorrum of Leadvrlle Hrgh School would know After the exercrses we went to the A A U W Tea grven rn our honor We all enjoyed thrs tea very much On May 24 we took a jrrunt to Glenwood Sprrngs and spent rhe day horse back rrdrng and swrmmrng Thrs was rn tradrtron srnce classes have gone to Glenwood Sprrngs for many years Graduatron was on May 27 Although we had ocen look rnv forward to thrs occasron rt had an undertone of adness for e were leavrng a way of lrfe that we had lecome pleasantly accustomed to and a break lrke that rs never easy Wrth the conclusron of commencement ex ercrses we went to the Commencement Dance and danced untrl twelve Thrs br ught to an end our high school career I am sure you see from thrs hrstory Just what an energetrc class thrs was Joe McConnell
