ember 12 We had an enjoyable class prcnrc rn the sprrng whrch was our last actrvrty of the ye rr We returned rn September of 48 streng hened by the addrtron of the students from St Marys School We audrtorrum of Leadvrlle Hrgh School would know After the exercrses we went to the A A U W Tea grven rn our honor We all enjoyed thrs tea very much On May 24 we took a jrrunt to Glenwood Sprrngs and spent rhe day horse back rrdrng and swrmmrng Thrs was rn tradrtron srnce classes have gone to Glenwood Sprrngs for many years Graduatron was on May 27 Although we had ocen look rnv forward to thrs Eleanor Lofquist was elected as the Junior candidate for Senior Fair Queen. In Nov- ember our Junior-Senior Party was held. Again this year our boys ski team walked away with honors. Our team was Eddie Kelly Nick Perich Walter Jackson Donald Kerzon and Jim Kerrigan. Jim Kerrigan tied for high point boy. Junior girls who participated in the meets were Madalyn Marcella Eleanor Lofquist and Mary Carol Kuss. They placed second. May 10 was the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom which vas Deep Purple. We also won the Interclass Basketball tournament. Lead by the sparkling play cf Ray Padilla and Jim Kerrigan the Juniors, cle- feated once by the Fieshmen by a score cf 14 to 13 came up the long way to beat the undefeated Freshmen in the final game by a score of 30 to 20 to gain the title of Interclass Basketball Champs. During these games the High School Gym saw very good crowds and took a good workout. Six teams were entered in this tournament which was held from March 14 to March 21. They were: Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen, Sub-Freshmen, and Saint Mary's. The tournament was based on the 2-game elimination process which made the tournament a better and longer tournament. All games proved to be thrillers for the fans, because all of them were very close, clean, and hard-fought games and no one could tell who was going to win until the final buzzer sounded. The Freshmen by pulling two surprising upsets over the Juniors and Seniors proved to he the team to beat. In the final game the crowd saw the Freshmen battling with all they had trying to oveicome the height and game experience of the Juniors. This game kept the fans on their toes at all times while watching the Juniors gain the Championship in a very clean and hard-fought game. The coaches for the tournament were: Ralph Kennedy, Seniorsg Nick Perich, Juniors: Richard Medina, Sophomoresg Jack Boyd, Freshmeng and Jack Larsh, Sub- Freshmen. Joe McConnell, Glen Normand, Anton Bogunowich, and Charles Carter handled the whistles. The purpose of this temporary council was to draw up a constitution, and to better acquaint the ntu- dents with the work done by a Student Council. The officers were: David Roll, presi- dent, Charles Carter, vice president: Mary Carol Kuss, secretary. The members were all class officers, class sponsors, and our advisor was Mr. Lucian Allan. The council met once a week. Some projects the council undertook were the decoration of the avenue for Chirstmas, music between classes during Christmas, selling booster license plates and purchasing medals for interclass ski and baseball champions.
