Miss Kettle and Mrs, Knoll had been appointed as our class advisors and when it came to putting on our f'Freshman Fi-olic , we thanked our lucky stars that we had two people who really maneuvered us around and showed us the ropes. XVe gave it the special name of XYinter XYonderland and even went so far as to choose a Snow Queen. As far as we were concerned, the hand was practically built around the Freshman members. XYhy just think, Barb Fagan, a Freshman, was drum majorette for the whole band. Almost unbelievable! l 1945-46 Znd Leg of the VOYAGE lVe didn't set sail very readily in our Znd year, The only important event in September was our election of crew officers. The boys got the upper hand in this event, but that didn't keep the girls out of the running, for it happened that they gave forth with an all-girl speaking contest, Shirley Morris proved tops in this, But the music for this orator' exhibition certainly took the cake. lX'ho will ever forget Ringo Graham taking time out during his performance to look at his watch! Came May, it was only appropri- ate to have a May llance, May pole and all, and what's more we had -lim liorror's Ambassadors for music. A definite success , l946-47 .ird Leg of the YHYAGIC lVe are now upper crewmen! But still we envied the Seniors in Room 26, which to U5 -..gg MRs. KNOLL MR. BENNETT seemed a paradise where you could come in at any time and still not be counted late, Com- manding Officer. Grace Gelsomino, and advisors. Miss DeVoe and Mr, McRoberts. worked hard to bring us out on top deck, and that they did. Vfe even showed signs of making money. for we more than broke even on the big event of the year. the -lunior Prom. At our second big Shin- dig. the -lunior Frolic. we had a real country hoedown with round and square dancing to Happy Hammanls music. ln the Larkin Speaking Contest, the class of '43 walked all over the Seniors, with Peggy Munt taking first prize. - Now on to port. 19-L7-48 Port of Call! 3 Graduation XYe've finally come out on top deck with -lim Milne, Class President. Mrs.Knoll ,and Mr. Bennett Advisors. having done a top-notch job of guiding us home. It seems as if we've spent most of the year trying to think up ways to make money for our Senior trip. The magazine drive in September, cards and wrapping paper in October and Nov- ember, and then a slight breather to study for -lanuary exams, was the schedule for the first semester. As soon as those tests, tthose nec- essary evilsi were out of the way. the Senior Play got underway. After our talented pro- duction of Dear Ruth in March, came the big social event of the year, the Senior Ball. Having proved a bake sale an easy way to make money in November, we held another one in April to make some extra money for our trip. On April 22nd, we packed our bags, and. took off to New York. There is not one Senior tor chaperonei who will ever forget that memorable trip. and the fun we had. Land has been sighted, and soon we will be ashore. NYC will never forget our years in L. H. S., our many friends. successes and fail- ures, and most of all, the fun we have had weathering the storms together. im.-- ,, 1-15,53 wc-4.
