H3 7' w, J This year the student council strove for a more er p - fect system through which the students and administration 3 could communicate. One of the most interesting projects taken on by the council was to hold class meetings, Be- cause of these meetings many new ideas were put forth by the students and worked on by the council. Some of the other projects taken on by the student council were the organization of Homecoming and the Christmas program, An interest was taken by the council to help the community. At Christmas thirty Christmas trees were given to needy families and also a food drive was con- ducted to help a family in need. Active officers were Gary Petersen, Presidentg Rick Petersen, Vice-presidentg Mary Engelbrecht, Secretary- treasurer. Mr. Bitterly was sponsor. 18

66 97 NTHS Members Are Slaves ii it J The students in National Honor Society are selected for enthusiasm shown for scholarship, the desire to render service, the persons ability to promote leadership, and the over all character of the student. The tasks of these students may range from some- thing as difficult as raising and lowering the Red, VVhite, and Blue each day to a relatively easy job as raising money for the annual spring banquet of new initiates. This year they provided entertainment for the student body with a skit at a pep rally. Also an attempt was made to raise money through a slave day. Officers of NHS were: President, Chuck Mertesg Vice-president, Jean Meisg Secretary-treasurer, Gloria jelken. Sponsor was Mr. Satory.
