For the past twenty-seven years, Dr. Harvey N. Kluckhohn Qleftj has been striving for the im- provement ofthe Le Mars Public schools. Dr. Kluckhohn's re- sponsibility to see that Le Mars schools keep pace with the chang- ing system of education in the nation is a great one. Another important person in our halls of learning is our school principal, Frank Landreth fleftj. He is a busy man with many duties. Some of these are: to take charge of all the students personal records and filesg take charge of attendanceg take charge of all student activitiesg take charge of all discipline problemsg act as treasurer of student ac- tivity accountsg plan all class and program schedules. The 1954 Homecoming was highlighted by the crowning of our Queen, Alyce Sitzman. She was elected by popular vote as were her four attendants, Mary Cay Collins, Donna Pt-- tersen, Merry Chapman, and Ramonda Brouillette. Queen Alyce and herattendants hadaweekofactivities planned for them. On Monday, they were introduced in announce- ment period. Tuesday, the royalty was entertained at a banquet in the school cafeteria. Wednesday night, a snake dance was held in their honor and on Thursday the girls were interviewed on the school radio program. Friday was the big day of the Coronation which was held in the Homecoming Pep Assembly. The boys, who escorted the girls, are members ofthe Let- ter Club and were elected by the Letter Club. They are Jerry Becker, Bob Kettler, Dave Petry, Gilbert Cass, and the Duke, Dave Gunther.
