IXIDIDIJICEI by Norman Lee Pavlik I don't think you know me, so I'll introduce myself. I am the little bird who pre- dicts what will happen before it happens. I tell the teachers so that they can be there when you crack your gum. But to make up for all the times I have warned your teachers, I am going to tell your future, ten years from now. I use a geometry book for foretelling the future in- stead of a crystal ball. A geometry book has more angles. Peering into 1958, I see at a reception in his honor, young Dr. Downing, a graduate psychiatrist, being congratulated by Bob Kramer, a Phillie Basketball star, Carol Totmanski, an operatic soprano, and Tony Peterson, director of Iowa Airways Patrol. Dick Kirkwood of the Police Gazette, over by the punch bowl, is talking shop with Phyllis Swanson, feature editor of Ladies' Home Journal, and James Cooper, commercial artist, concerning a cover for next month's issue of the journal. Betty jean Witt, dress designer, and Kitty Karr, fabric designer, are discussing the new trend to lower the length of the all-popular women's plastic and glass rocket tights. Jim Boyd, DuPont plastic man, is telling about his research into the matter of plastic fabrics. Carol Kramer, publicity photographer for G. M. G., is discussing the finer points of stage make-up with Ruth Mauer, studio nurse of Phairymont Studio. Bob Cooper, national champion of the Dirt Track, is discussing rocket jets with the top producer, Bernard Taylor, construction expert Cliff Molzen, and thrill driver Gerald Krull. Reporter Ruth Newendorp and Radio Commentator Whitey Thompson have just entered, accompanied by the top-flight pro-football men, Turkey Schultz, Gus Schroeder, and jim Conway. The eminent lecturer on Race Relations, Mary Anne Kettler, is shouting and be- ing shouted back at by Secretary of Agriculture Joe Easton and Don Ohlrich, National President of the F. F. A. The group has just got another duet together, Margaret Green, just back from a concert tour, at the piano, and Ruth Stahmer, first violin in the philharmonics, at her violin. That rather stout fellow in the Khaki outfit is the National Chief Executive of the Boy Scouts of America. Beside him stand two handsome men, Ralph Taylor and Dave Albert, professional models for Fitch. 16
