USS LAWRENCE CDDG-45 is the fifth ship of the fleet to perfumed in honor of Captain James Lawrence, USN. She is one ship in a class of ships designed from the keel up as a guided missile destroyer. Built bythe NewYork Shipbuilding Corporation, herkeel was laid 27 October 1958. She was christened 27 February 1960 and commissioned 6 January 1962. LAWRENCE is 437 feet long, has a beam of 47 feet, and a displacement of 4500 tons. Her complement is 19 otticers and 319 men .
