img TEACHER OF THE YEAH Mr. John Lawson, Social Studies teacher at Lawndale for eight years. is married, a father of two sons and a back-packer in the High Sierras when he isn't busy doing yard work. Mr. Lawson believes Students today are more involved and perhaps more concerned than previous generations. When asked about the generation gap he replied: lt is no different than the gap that existed between the generations in the past. Plato said it all 2400 years ago- 'What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders. They disobey their parents. They ignore the laws. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What's to become of them? What's to become of them, Mr. Lawson predicts, is that They will be faced daily with recognizing and solving problems, and it is the resolv- ing of the problems that will be the most important. 131
