4? E gn won UL, 1.-1 no.1+ AUGUSTA, ARKANSAS JANUARY 3 1960 RED DEVIL STAFF COMPLETES A few weeks ago, the members of the the old graduates of Laura Conner High, storm! Why not devote an entire issue telling what has become of the various OUTSTANDING RESEARCH PROJECT 'Red Devil' staff were discussing some of when , suddenl.y, we were struck by a brain- of the paper to a former class of A.H.S., members? So we began to think about the different classes that have completed their course of study UD here, and finally, after due consideration, we chose the class of 1950. We feel that this class, com- posed of some of the most brilliant students ever to pass thru the doors of our alma mater, is well-remembered and that you would be most interested in the outcome of the members of this outstanding class. We will endeavor to tell you the where- abouts, occupations, and accomplishments of these former almnni, ami we hope you enjoy this very special issue of the 'Red Devil. Miss Gloria McStar, the former Jessie Simmons, has just completed a new picture in Hollywood, Miss l!c8tar recently won the title of 'Miss Gl.a.mour of DWb.' Opening in mld Knob next week is the 445tar Carnival! Feature at- traction is the curvaceous Gayne Preller as a hul.a- dancer. Another star per- former is Preston Riner as snake chamer. Mr. Riner says the snakes never bite him because they have a brotherly feeling toward him. It is rumored that Miss Betty Bates will seek the office of governor next term. After holding sev- eral important offices, among them that of first womn garbage collector. Miss Bates has a good chance of defeating Hr. Dickie Henderson, present inclmlmnto ' That well-known torch singer, Miss Ann Riner, will be featured with Guy Lumbago's orchestra, open- ing next week at the Veterans Bar. Mr. and Mrs. Paul .Leamon are preparing for an elabor- ate birthday party, honoring Paula Carol on her tenth birthday. Attending the party will be the other eight children of Mr. and Hrs. Leamon. 'Patricia Packsaddlen , formerly known as Pat Ray- mond, of Augusta, has just won the Oscar for being the outstanding cowgirl actress of the year. The director's award went to Mackie Harris, Miss Packsaddle's ex-boy- friend, for directing the prize-winning Packsaddle movie. Miss Sue Taggart, the wealthy spinster, has just opened a home for mistreated old mids. Miss Taggart says she sympathizes with these unfortunate ladies, and, if united, feels that they my find suitable bachelors. Prospects are very bright for the Second Nat- ional Bank since Bobby Coleman was recently pro- moted to president. Bobby has served as office boy for the past ten years. Awful, Odom, the ter- rific woman wrestler of the year, will appear in Madison Square Garden next week to defend her champ- ionship. Mrs. Odom, the former Colleen Hunter, says the idea for the ca- reer came after she won the first round with her husband. The graceful ballerina, Miss Virginia Simmons, made her debut last night in the Ethel Barrymore theater in New York. Miss Simmons' first appearance was a huge success. The designer of the many beau- tiful costumes worn by Miss Siumons is Mr. Wilson Robertson, the leading dress designer of the cen- tury, whose new lmeelength fCon't on next page-No. 2,
