Barbara Reigns And the 1980 Basketball Sweetheart is . . . The gym was silent at this point. The Junior candidate Miss Barbara Gomes. Applause broke out as the Varsity basketball captain Ron Bisi came out for the Coronation. A tradition was broken this year. All of the Sweetheart candidates were not females. The Senior Class was represented by Henry Montejano, escorted by Lisa McGill. Nicky Hoftman was the sophomore candidate and was escorted by Marty Garcia. The Freshmen entry was Loraine Henson escorted by Rod Hanse. Roger Gillard commented they played hard and learned a lot about basketball. were looking forward to more consistency in the future years.
