Laton Hosts First Exchange Students i 1-III li. --K 1-I I I I 'auiiklbf Q 6 fffffr.. ,, . III. IL. To learn,'to progress and to experience life in a different country is the object of exchange students. Laton High School also had the chance to learn about the social environments of different countries with the help of two exchange students who attended Laton during the year. Eeva Ormaia and Andreas Hamann were sponsored by the Youth for Understanding Organization and were the first exchange students ever to attend LHS. Eeva Ormaia, 18, resided with the Virgil Sarratt family. She was very active in FFA at Laton and enjoyed horseriding and cross country skiing back home in Helsinki, Finland. Andreas Hamann, 17, lived with the Lee Liggett family during his stay. He was from Hamburg, Germany where he enjoyed soccer, track and handball. At Laton, he was an active member of CSF, cross country and basketball. For both students, it was their first trip to America. They noticed that studies were easier here and they enjoyed the many school activities. Eeva and Andreas will hopefully remember their experiences here, for Laton High School will not soon forget them. 1.
