Sheldon, While, Balderama, Braclcell, Telonicher Basketball The Lalon B's won lhe Division and Semi-Counly Championship lor lhe year I935-36. They played only lwo league games lor lhe division lille because ol lhe lorleils ol Riverdale and Parlier. Aller delealing Sierra, I8-I4, and Carulhers, Zl-20, a game loo close lor comlorl, lhey played Clovis lor lhe Counly Semi-Finals and won by a score ol 30-I4. Laler, however, lhey losl lhe Fresno Counly lille lo Roosevell. They were a lasl playing leam and were very adepl al handling lhe ball. They had made a repulalion lor lhemselves as Freshmen and again as Sophomores and lhis year had lo uphold lhal repulalion by winning a championship. Allhough lhey did nol succeed in capluring lhe Counly Championship. lhey did win lhe Counly Semi-Finals. The leam members were as follows: Claude Braclcell, F: George Nishi, F1 John deVries, C3 Pele Balderama, G7 Franlc Reis, G. The subslilules were Dean Sheldon and Harley Adams. The A leam was a slraighl shooling leam, a leam which was composed ol good sporls who could win or lose a game wilh honor and wilhoul ill-leeling. The lwo mosl oulslanding players were Elroy Usellon, and Pele Kercher. These lwo were usually high poinl men. There were Bill Usellon, Glenn Price and Glenn Dooley, wilh Keilh Parsons as subslilule, lo keep lhe game speeding and lo lorce lhe allaclc. Praclice games were held wilh many neighboring schools around: ol lhese Lalon won approxi- malely hall. The league games and scores were as lollows: Sierra-I9, Lalon-I II Parlier-22, Lalon-323 Carulhers-24, Lalon-271 Tranguillily-IO, Lalon-583 Riv- erdale-23, Lalon--2l. f-T42

STarTing The season off wiTh pracfice games wiTh Hanford and various oTher neighboring Towns, The Team was soon ready for The league games. The TirsT game was wiTh Sierra and was quife a slugging affair, wifh Sierra geTTing II hiTs, and LaTon I3. Balderama and Rifchie goT Three-base hiTs and Claude BracT4eTT was wallced six Times. l.aTon came off The field wiTh The honors and also wiTh a greaf deal of experience. The second game of The season was wiTh CaruThersy Two poor innings enabled Carufhers To score quiTe heavily againsf LaTon, affer which They seTTled down and played a good sTeady game. Buf Carufhers finally succeeded in winning The game. The nexf league game was wiTh Riverdale. The Team funcfioned perfecTTy and soon ran up a large score. The game was finally rained ouT buT noT before PeTe Balderama had fanned many Riverdale players. LaTon ran up The score ll To 3 for Riverdale. Affer defeafing Riverdale The boys played Parlier and losf, 5-2. Tranquillify, The oTher school in The division, for- feifed To The league. AfTer seeing This Team pTay, and waTching Them worlc ouT in pracfice, iT can be TruThTulTy said ThaT Mr. Telonicher knows his baseball and does a good iob in Teaching iT To The boys.
