This was a very N5 capable and talented class of 23 girls and boys. 'Q - They had such courage and enthusiasm that the upper 3 classmen soon began to look at them with respect 1 a and admiration. While freshmen we were very outstanding in L4 many events. Four of the girls made the first bas- 4 ketball team. Tom Starkey, Eunice Bonnell, and 3 Thelma Wright placed in Algebra in the State 1 Scholarship Contest held at Winfield. A? We began the sophomore year with only 15 of V the original class. Five of the girls made the 3 girls basketball team. Bonnie Huffington placed 3 in history in the State Scholarship Contest. 5 At the beginning of our Junior year our class ' membership was increased when Paul Kluthe joined 5 with us. We presented our first class play HOne 1 Minute Until Twelve,U under the direction of Miss 3 Dyck. In our Junior Senior Banquet we carried out the theme of Ustarlight and Gardens.U We had as - our class sponsor Miss Dyck. We went to Wichita f on our visiting day. '3 Our senior year has been filled with more Y activities but we have enjoyed them all. At the A beginning of the second semester Kiss Dyck, our sponsor left to accept a better position and Mr. 7 Boomer took her place as our sponsor. For our ,, . senior play we presented a three-act comedy, N Uhiss Adventure,H under the direction of Mr. A , Boomer. On our visiting day we took Friday and Saturday and went to Fort Riley, Eanhattan, 1 f Topeka, Lawrence, Kansas City, Missouri, and came N back through Ottawa and Emporia. It was a very A enjoyable and educational trip. We are graduat- ' ing with an enrollment of fourteen. We have only W two of the original group that started together ' in the first grade, Bonnie Huffington and Eunice . Bonnell, and eight that started as freshmen here at Latham High School. ' A .
