ISN'T LCVE GRAND? Dating as always became one of the most favorite outside extracur- ricular activities of the year. These activities ranged from junior high to high school and from standing in the halls to going to the latest mov- ies. Although couples always have their share of fights, the parties in- volved almost always seemed to be enjoying themselves. Trying to see each other between classes was always a problem be- cause it usually accounted for an occasional tardy or two, but lunch still remained the best time to shoot the breeze . So as the game of he loves me, he loves me not went on most of us had a chance to see couples starting and couples ending. Either way it always seemed nice to have someone special with whom to share things. 22 Couples Wi uni? Top: Between Classes, Bea Hawkins, and Curt Stephenson discuss a pleasant topic. ALMOST ANYTHING GOES Each year when school begins, there is a mad rush to the local de- partment stores to do the classic Back to School Shopping. ln Sep- tember, shoppers were not only hit by indecision but inflationary high prices. Shoppers faced a world of long skirts, bulky sweaters, multi- colored scarfs and blue jean shirts, blue jean skirts, blue jean jackets and plain blue jeans. Parents ended up with overloaded arms and empty wallets. When we mention the preparing of our fall fashion for school, we couldn't forget about the hair styles that also come and go with the clothes. Girls began to cut those luscious locks of hair. Most were turning to the popular brush back bangs. Nevertheless, those long- haired beauties were ending up with a lot less hair. Now, just stop and look at the guys. You would be sur- prised. Beautician styled hair be- came more and more noticeable. Even home-styled Afros could be found. It just felt good to know that men too were sharing in the fun of curlers, end papers, and the ghastly smell of permanent lotion. Even at the end of the year new fads were coming about: such as mood rings, earth shoes, and sweat- shirt-blue jean jacket com- binations. Who knows what the end would be when almost anything goes. 24 Fads and Fashions Afros are a popular style for naturally curly headed guys, including Cfrom top clock wise to lefty, Jon Flenbarger, Glen Hobbs, John Eric Barker and Tim Bodenhorn Quite a few men teachers can be seen sprouting beards, although some of these teachersjust like having beards, most of them are due to the upcoming Lapel centennial.
