CIRL ' BASKETBALL - VARSITY CHAMP Lansdowne,s girls, teams have always been overshadowed by the boys' teams. This year, however, they roved they could be number one, too. The girls' var- sity basketball team came through their league season with a sharp 7-I record to capture the Western Division Crown. This earned them the chance to meet Parkville to decide the county champion- ship. Although the girls played a good game, they were defeated by a strong Parkville team. In spite of this defeat, the girls are proud of their victories and hope to go all the way next year. Although they were never really out of any of the games, they came away without a win this season. However, an impressive crop of sophomores and some talented fresh- man should bolster next year's varsity team. This year's junior Varsity Girls' Basketball team Was not quite as successful as the Var- sity, Winning only two games and ending the season with a 2-7 record. Aided by some good shooters, the girls gave their opponents many exciting games. They were very spir- ited and avidly supported not only their fellow players but also the Varsity team. Although their record doesn,t show it, the girls had a good team and should provide ,plenty of material for the Varsity squad next year.
