Like the Varsity, the LV. wrestlers were troubled with for- feits which accounted for their poor win-loss record. The team was captained by Elwood Daly and Kim Bemis and was coached by Mr. Redd. The enthusiasm generated by the individual performers can be expected to be carried over to next year, which should be a cause for delight to Lansdowne wrestling fans. The members of the J.V. AR ITY WRE TLI C Individual performances highlighted our Varsity Wrestling rogram at Lans- downe this year. Fine skill was displayed by the Varsity wrestlers headed by cap- tains Allen Smith and Gary Cook. A his- tory of little interest in the wrestling pro- gram at Lansdowne has caused many losses due to a shortage of participants. The boys have tried to overcome this problem by exhibiting their great desire to win. is desire as ena led Coach Coutros to have many excellent wrestlers in the past, and this year was no excep- tion. This year for the Hrst time the Wres- tling team had a parents, night. It turned out to be a nice evening as the Vikings won four out of six matches. We can look forward to good results from a more exper- ienced Varsity wrestling team next year. OFTBALL With the 1970 Softball team, there was never a dull moment. Varsity showed they had a team with very unusual tal- ents. They had a player who ran to third base instead of first, and a girl who had her pants on backwards. The girls played on many muddy fields and the I.V. play- ers often had trouble remaining on their feet long enough to throw the ball. De- spite this, the girls developed their skills and kept up their spirit and determination. The coaches hope all the girls will return next season to improve their standings and win the championship. The teams played the following schools in league games: Catonsville, Cockeysville, Pikes- ville, Randallstown, Woodlawn, Milford Mill, Hereford, Franklin, and Dulaney. Above Nancy Blankenship catches a fly ball to make another out for Lansdowne R1 t Pat Mooney appears to have slugged another home run.
