Team Barely Missed State Playoffs! Had Best Record Ever at Lanier! gg, it xx Eff Nm a With late season losses to Vestavia and Hueytown, the closest shot Lanier footballers had to state playoffs fell inches short. The last pep rally was an emotional one for the seniors, remembering that it was their last . . . ever. After the end of the season six Lanier players were honored by the Birmingham News for their ability: Frank Manzells, Cedric Stevens, Mike Dennis, Charlie Williams, Greg Watkins and David Lawley were ranked on the All-Independent team .
