'S Derllors HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1942 In the fall of 1938 there were twenty SIX freshmen steppmg upon the threshold of success ln Central Hlgh School In the sophomore year however seven of tht. orlglnal twenty SIX were lost Raymond Carlton went away to the CCC J P Cross went maneuverlng wlth the Nlatlonal Guard Unlt Margaret Campbell enroll ed ln the Hope Hlgh School Howard Hart mlgrated to Loulslana Thomas Edgar Honea sought fortunes elsewhere Lols Knlght was lost to the outslde world Vlr glnla Schooley left us tor a waltlng husband Mllton Stokes was also lost to the CCC Jora Dean Clark Jolned the ranks of the Prescott Hlgh School Carlon Gann was added from Falrvl w Hlgh School Camden Arkansas We began the Jumor year wlth the loss of B C Thompson who was away wlth the Natlonal Guard Unlt Kathryn Reyenga was welcomed lnto our happy clrcle from Emmet Hlgh School The fall of 1941 found us Wlth a shortag of flN6 members Cllnton East James McGough Bobby Pealson and Alvln Sanders Dorrls Dlllard dropped after a few months leavlng only ten of the orlglnal m mbers of the class of 1938 Marguerlte and Eva Schmltt were added from Washlngton Hlgh School Washlngton Arkansas and Denwell Falchlld with Roscoe wT1ll13mS returned to the class and we now have 2 total ot slxteen graduates, ELLEN PURTLE CLASS PROPHECY Mer y and sad to tell And the Crler rang the bell What would Lets rove the Futures thoroughfares And tak th Future s balmy alrs And as we walk the hazy maze We Wlll meet old frlends of hlgh school days And see what fortunes they have found If thls ones famed or that renowned A swell excluslve ladles shop Is labeled Ralph Blandlng Prop And stepplng ln to shake hlS hand We flnd hlm sleek and bald and bland A clerk Roscoe Wllllams shows us round Obscure unfamed and renowned A fat pollceman ambles by Adron Sampson as sure as I am I We step wlthln the courthouse door To hear the lawyers rant and roar Is that Kathryns volce we hear afar Defendlng Lavada at the bar?
