OFFICERS JUE ARLY IN THE SENIOR YEAR three days of hectic campaigning, fhighlighted by the hanging of posters and passing out of campaign hats and ties, precede the election at which the president, vice-president, secre- tary, treasurer, and sergeant-at-arms of the senior class are chosen. Duties of the new officers include arranging senior meetings, recording minutes of meetings, and handling the financial affairs of the senior class. One of the most important jobs of the preside-nt-elect is to appoint the committee chairmen from the candidates who were not elected to an office. Often there are not enough remaining Candi- dates to fill all of the chairman positions, and class officers must assume additional respon- 963 sibility by taking over these vacant positions. Members of the committees are chosen from their divisions which they represent at the com- mittee meetings. The duties of the committees are many, and the combined efforts of these committees help to make the Laneite's last year his best. Members serve their classmates by arranging the graduation, the prom, and the details of class meetings. Selecting a class gift, arranging for senior pins and rings, promot- ing publicity, and working in conjulnction with the Arrowhead on the senior biography sec- tions are some of the responsibilities of other committees. The hard work and long hours put in by these committees insure that the senior's year will be one never to be forgotten. -49
