KEY CLUB li Devoted to the service of the school and community, the KEY CLUB has as its sponsor the Kiwanis Clulb ot Lakeview. Although it is part of an iinternatioin-al organization, the Key Club plans its own projects, and the project contests sponsored on a district and interna- tional level help to foster a friendly spilrit of competition, This year the Key Club has been a major contributor to the schooI's reading lab an-cl has initiated a program to supply books to a Peace Corps school in Ethiopia. ln order to cover the cost of this project, the Key Club sells course book and yearbook covers to the student body. The membership at the club is limited to titty students who form one of the most active organizations at Lane. Members are in- structed iin both the running and the miain- taing of these machines, including the thread- ing and splicing of film, After the students have completely mastered both phases of their training and have demonstrated their ability to handle the equipment, they receive their projectiiionist cards which allow them to oper- ate any of Lane's visual aid devices.

Honor Society Stimulates Academic Achievment Members of the student body who are outstanding in scholarship as well as in service to their school receive special recognition for their accomplishments through induction into the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. This select group of students is not just an honorarv organization, but a working club whose se- mestrial projects benefit all studenits. Calcu- lating scholastic averages, procuring and distributing college and scholarshfip material, and keeping the Lane in the News bulletin board up to date are but la few ot the Society's ways of serving our school.
