William Cain Wayne Bassi Visual ids Speed Learning THREADING A PROJECTOR for a movie in their science class are Mike Greggo and Paul Arens. 40 Training students to operate the schooI's visual aid equipment is the primary aim of the PROJECTIONIST CLUB. Members are in- structed iin both the running and the miain- taing of these machines, including the thread- ing and splicing of film, After the students have completely mastered both phases of their training and have demonstrated their ability to handle the equipment, they receive their projectiiionist cards which allow them to oper- ate any of Lane's visual aid devices.

It is the responsib'iIiity of the members of the CLEAN-UP COMMITTEE to instill in Lane- ites the need for cleanliness in Lane and in their lhomes and communities. They accom- plish these goals by annually holding a clean- up slogan contest and by placing clean-up posters in the halls. Eacih year the grou-p sub- . BUDGET COMMITTEE Standmg: Mangaras, Ceiley, Leinbaugh, Wetter, Seated: Tortorelli, Blomberg, Mr. Nuccio. Collection and disbursement of over ten thousand dollars a year is the very demanding job of the BUDGET COMMITTEE. The mem- bers ofthe committee see to it that a one dollar budget fee is collected from every student each semester and that the money appropria- ted to various org-ainiizations by the Srtudent Council reaches its proper recipients. Aside from collecting and dilsbursing fu-nds, tlhe members of the Budget Committee also distri- bute the TECH PREPS and handle the finances of the ARROWHEAD. mits to the Chicago Association of Commerce and lndustry a booklet suimmariziiing its ac- tivities and containing original clean-up information, slogans, and posters. The work ofa little-known group such as this symbolizes the civic spirit of Laneites. Members of LUFTOA who substitute for a late or absent teacher in. his first period class acquaint themselves with the career of teach- ing, The OWLS CLUB, a subdivision' of LUF- TOA, meets daily to lend a helping hand to students who have difficulty in understanding a subject. Through providing practical experi- ence, these clubs help undecided fu-ture tea- chers decfide in what pairticular field they are interested. Both of these fine organiizatiionis reward members with the personal satisfac- tion of accomplishing something worthwhfile. 39

KEY CLUB li Devoted to the service of the school and community, the KEY CLUB has as its sponsor the Kiwanis Clulb ot Lakeview. Although it is part of an iinternatioin-al organization, the Key Club plans its own projects, and the project contests sponsored on a district and interna- tional level help to foster a friendly spilrit of competition, This year the Key Club has been a major contributor to the schooI's reading lab an-cl has initiated a program to supply books to a Peace Corps school in Ethiopia. ln order to cover the cost of this project, the Key Club sells course book and yearbook covers to the student body. The membership at the club is limited to titty students who form one of the most active organizations at Lane.
