Wood Shops Increase Manual Dexterity Because the skills acquired in WOODSHOP are basically similar to those needed in the more complex shops, woodshop is required of each incoming freshman. The student learns the characteristics of a good Workman, skill, OPERATION of the bandsaw occupies all of Steve Stein's attention as he works on a wood- shop project. patience, and craftmanship, through building such projects as the tie rack, spice cabinet, and lamp. Y ABSORBED in the wiring of his circuit board, George Pohlit starts a job in AFTER TESTING his components, Gerry Land- electric shop. ELECTRIC SHOP Standing: Mr. Edward Marko, Mr. Joseph Bu- caro, Mr. Raymond Nestmann, Mr. James Farnsworth, Mr. Herbert Beck. Seated':i Chair- iner, Radio Club member, increases his knowl- edge of the radio through assembling a receiver. Electric Shop ln ELECTRIC SHOP, students gain praiotical knowledge about electricity through designi-ng and constructing electrical circuits. 'Fhese range from the simple series circuit to the complex parallel-series circuits. Some of the students make electric motors while others make ampere and volt meters. After the wiring of thie project is finished, the student com- pletes ia questionnaire which tests his know- ledge about the theory involved in his project. AUTO SHOP Standing: Mr. Stanley Cecil, Mr. George Leddy, Mr. William Labant, Mr. John Russell. Seated: Mr. Bernard Bulawa, Mr. Floyd McMullen. Mechanics Study Automotive Principles Roaring gasoline engines are often heard in the southwest wing of the building where three shops constitute' the AUTO SHOP progriam, The one-semester course is taken in three sepa- rate parts: engine shop, body and feindier shop, and electrical shop. A semester of ad- vanced training is also available to those who are interested. ln these shops the students learn about engine and frame structures, the different types of paint finishes and body de- signs, and the automobile's complex electrical system. The experience gained in this shop is of great value to students who enjoy working on cars and can purchase their own. :we-4 RECORDING THE RESULTS of a test, Stanley Kubala and John Klein finish a job in auto shop which provides actual experience in repairing an engine. MOUNTING A MOTOR donated to the school, Kenneth Balon positions it critically over a sup porting frame before lowering it into place in an auto shop. all
