MACHINE SHOP Standing: Mr. Frederick Faber, Mr. Joseph Eckl, Mr. Arthur Neumann. Seated: Mr. Cecil Sophomore students may choose one of three shops in which the scent of molten metal permeates the atmosphere. ln FOUNDRY, where the basics of mold construction are taught, students learn to pour liquifiied metal into molds and then finish the resulting rough casting. FORGE studenits hammer heat- English, Mr. Erwin Brinkmann, Mr. John Sul- livan, Chairman Mr. Paul Taylor. softened metals into desired shapes. La-neites who elect WELDING are taught the use ofthe arc-welder and oxy-acetylene torch for cutting and shaping metals. Future engineers gaiin rnuch valuable training through this experi- ence with metals. MACHINE SHOP STUDENT Alan Lykins learns many varied cpplications of the lathe such as the threading of screws and the knurling of cylindrical surfaces.
