LAUREL WREATH 1968 "1v'ar',' 1-"' Lanoasier Mennoniie School Lanoasier. Pennsglvania Ediiorz Rhoda Weber Volume XXII

Page 7 text:

He nods sympathetically, then patiently retraces the explanation of the structure of the DNA molecule. Then when he sees understanding light on the faces of his students, he leads them on to other areas of learning. His hands adroitly find the clear microscopic field, and his students squint their eyes against theilens, fascinated by the color and movement of a drop of blood. Wfith a twinkle in his friendly, blue eyes, he guides his pupils as they dissect worms, and the hearty laughter spills over when he hears that his enthusiastic dissectors went from class to a lunch of spaghetti and green beans. But the laughter is replaced by a look of serious earnestness during the spirited discussions of evolution where theories are probed, questions raised, and opinions stated, but where the final authority is always the Bible. His manner transfers to the young minds before him the sense of reverence with which he regards the function of zygotes, of chromosomes, of genes. The ringing of the 3:50 bell signifies the end of the school day to many, but his car will be seen in the parking lot until 4:30, 5:00, and sometimes 5:30. Charles B. Longenecker, we have heard your quick laugh and felt your understanding guid- ance through the years. As you have dedicated your time and knowledge to us, so we dedicate our 1968 Laurel Wreath to you. . KM 'Z ayi 1 W ,Y f an Q ,xg l
