LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOLS bthmd us a few unfortunates who had not sufflcrently mastered the art of horsemanshap We now were called upon to elect class officers and to choose our tennant and colors Here we had an opportunaty to show what br1l ltant examples of buddmg daplomacy were 1n evadence an our I-lagh School for an all our choaces we dlsplayed profound Judgment and ex ctptaonally good taste The officers of president secretary and treas urer haxe been Hlled by the same persons for three consecutlxe years 'hus demonstratmg the unusual efficlencv of our officers It was at thas young and tender age that xxe ventured out upon tht than ace of social llfe and herean lles a moral that succeedang classes would do well to heed We inaugurated our commg out mto society by holding a largely .attended and very successful moonllght walk E couraged by the success of our nrst effort we delxed deeper and ex ery thang went well untll we attempted to use the bulletm board to ad xertase our skatang partaes And then one memorable morn1ng we were unsuspectmglv assembled and lectured to upon the exlls of our w av and the amportance and necessaty of adhermg to the strarght and narrow path After we had recovered from the sermon we very xvlsely declded to employ other means of makmg known our soclal events How ex er we dad not neglect thas phase of our school lafe and we held sex eral haghly successful skating partles durlng the winter Our country was now at war and xxe can say wath no small degree of prlde that the Class of l9ZO solldly supported ex ery patrlotac ctlvlty that came up Sexeral of our members enlisted an the armed forces of the country to further Democracy s cause and they gaxe a good account of themselves In the sprung of the vear we broke all precedent by financing and provadang practically all the maternal for an assue of the Vzdett the officlal school magazlne Thls accomplishment was a brlllaant sutcess from exery standpotnt and at xx as unanimously agreed that the Issue was one of the best of the year Thas was the first tame any th ng of the kand had been atteml ted by low er classmen and at reflects great c.edat upon our class besldes emphaslzmg our mltaataxe and ab tx o put thmgs ox er We held two more soclal ex ents before the end of the Sophomor ttrm a doggv roast and a lass prcnvc Both of these were highly suc cessful and serx ed as a flttlng cllmax to a most prosperous year Our summer xacataon was longer than xxe had barga n d for I to an unexpected delay an the completlon of the new laualdvnn and to the mfluenza epldemxc that swept over the country It w as at thts tame mat our esteemed classmate Galbert Vatter xx as taken fom our m dst bv the hand of death Gilbert was a ftne clean ut fellow held .n h gh rtgard by both students and teachers and we all mourned has loss We xvere now elexated to the worthy posatron of Junaors and a fcw for whom Caesar had held no terrors xx ere caught ln the clutch s 16 . ,, V V 1 V - V V V r t ' V 4 ' 1. .V L . .
