CLASS HISTORY, Continued
Bonnie Mechling left us during the year. Nevin Curme and Melba Hill joined us. At
a class meeting held on September 29, the following class officers were elected: William
Price, President, Chloe Anderson, Vice-Presidentg Alice Fiechter, Secretary-treasurer.
Our class sponsors were Mr. Decker and Miss Johnson. During this year we had a
skating party at Huntington in the first semester. In the second semester we had a
party at the school building and a skating party at Roanoke. The most important event
for this year was the presentation of our class play, "M'liss, My Western Miss." This
took place at Lancaster on the night of March 29.
On August 23, 1940, every member of the class enrolled except Edna Brown and Ed
Walsh. Pauline Coffield, formerly of Bluffton, joined us. Out of the forty-four mem-
bers that enrolled in our freshman year, twenty are members of our graduating class.
The other seven transferred to Lancaster from other schools. At a class meeting held
on September 18, our class officers were chosen as follows: William Price, President:
Chloe Anderson, Vice-Presidentg Alice Fiechter, Secretary-treasurer. Miss Reed and Mr.
Gerwig were our class sponsors. Our party this year was held on March 7, the principal
feature being a supper at Jack Claussen's home. After supper some went skating while
other Went to a show. On October 18, we presented our senior class play, "Don't Darken
My Door," at Lancaster. At the present we are planning to take a trip to Chicago on
April 10 and 11.

--nON'T DARKEN MY DOOR"
The story is about a young girl, Rosemary Kent, who has read so many romances
that Tom tlarrinlt isn't good enough for her. The maid, Poppy, is also Very romantic
and will have nothing to do with Alex Stubbins. ROsemary's Uncle Roger is content
to stay a bachelor until Jane Perkins comes along and changes eyeryOne's outlook.
Romance is everywhere in the Kent household. Louisa and Susie Featherstone, two
maiden ladies, keep an interested eye on the romantic ai't'airs and add a comical bit now
