BREAKAWAY ■t$t Lakcwood High School Lancers sliaixd a cunuiion un- derstanding of their responsibilities as students. Going to class, studying, and participating in the various activities at LHS, helped bring them together. .Another quality shared by Lancers was to Breakaway from the rigors of school and enjoy a wide variety of recreational pursuits. Leisure time was always more pleasurable with friends who shared the same interests. Places such as the Queen Mary or the beach were popular choices for some. Others chose to be more active by surfing and skateboarding their way to relaxation. Cars be- came very helpful in defeating school-related stresses, as put- ting the pedal to the metal and turning up the tunes was a wa to escape, if only for a short time. HEARTBEATS Pitlcr-pat, pitlcr-pat, heartbeats loudly sounded at the thought of these special moments shared between special friends. Lancers were a bit romantic at heart, and no matter what season it was, romance always seemed to blossom. The hope that there would always be that certain person to en- courage us with a warm smile, a friendly spirit, and an ear to listen to, became a common thread among LHS students. The search for that person was an important part of a Lancer ' s life as well. Through good times and bad, sharing the highs and lows of daily life became a part of each person ' s existence at Lakewood High School. The friendships forged here would last a lifetime, leaving Lancers with memories to be cherished forever. The beating of Lancer hearts meant close relation- ships, special and unique to all.
